Who can Help?
One of the best things about creating a Great Indy Neighborhood is that you don’t have to go it alone! There are lots of great community resources you can tap for advice, information, and support.

Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center
INRC provides information and support to residents and neighborhood-based organizations. It works directly with Marion County neighborhood-based organizations, including neighborhood and homeowners associations, community development corporations, faith-based organizations and other non-profit groups. INRC offers technical assistance and various training opportunities to help grassroots neighborhood organizations address issues that impact the quality of life in their neighborhoods. It may also present on-site workshops in neighborhoods on subjects such as Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), Building Strong Networks & Collaborations, Marketing Your Neighborhood, Direct Advocacy and Facilitation and Planning for Action and Results. Learn more by contacting 920-0330 or visiting www.inrc.org.

Local Initiatives Support Corporation
LISC is a national, nonprofit organization that helps communities as they improve the physical and economic condition of their neighborhoods. LISC’s efforts are based on the proven principle that sustainable revitalization is supported best when redevelopment directly engages community residents and stakeholders. LISC supports neighborhood-based community organizations and their immediate partners as they serve as critical vehicles in the neighborhood revitalization process. LISC provides early–stage financing for housing and economic development projects and other community-based programs. Find out more at www.lisc.org/indianapolis or call 396-0588.

BSU CAP:IC
The Ball State University College of Architecture and Planning/Indianapolis Center (CAP:IC) draws from the inter-disciplinary nature of the College programs in architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, and historic preservation and provides assistance in community analysis, neighborhood visioning sessions, providing neighborhood sketches to help you see what your neighborhood might become, and more. To find out more, visit www.bsu.edu/capic, or call 822-6167.

City of Indianapolis - Marion County
The City of Indianapolis is committed to the ideas of the Great Indy Neighborhoods Initiatives including quality of life planning. The City can provide a number of resources to neighborhoods preparing quality of life plans. The Division of Planning can provide information on demographics and information about neighborhood assets, and can help with land use and zoning issues. The Mayor’s Neighborhood Liaisons connect you with city and county government, other community groups, and businesses across Indianapolis. Neighborhood Liaisons serve as a bridge between citizens and city government, acting as ombudsmen and providing a communication link between neighborhoods and the City. Neighborhood Liaisons are the first call to local government to help identify tools and resources that can advance your quality of life plan. You may contact the Neighborhood Liaisons at 327-5014 and the Division of Planning at 327-5155 or online at
