This guide is designed to help Indianapolis neighborhood residents and organizations find resources and partners to help bring about comprehensive neighborhood development. It is not meant to be a comprehensive guide to City or social services.

The guide has been developed in conjunction with the Great Indy Neighborhoods Initiatives (GINI). It is organized around the 11 principles of healthy neighborhoods.

Information is provided in a frequently asked questions format. Answers are listed in alphabetical order.

If you have questions that aren’t addressed by this guide, contact the following organizations:

  • For city services contact Mayor’s Action Center (MAC) at 327-4MAC (327-4622) or http://www.indygov.org/eGov/Mayor/mac.htm. The MAC provides Marion County citizens one central agency to contact for requesting services, obtaining information, or registering complaints. The MAC is open Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., with walk-in service from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • For questions regarding neighborhood organizations, contact Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center at 920-0330 or http://www.inrc.org.
  • Individuals and families needing help can get direct assistance and referrals to services by calling The HELPLINE at 2-1-1 or www.imcpl.org/cgi-bin/irntop.pl. It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • For “how to” or sample documents, go to www.greatindyneighborhoods.org.
