Paying Cash for a Home

Paying Cash for a Home

For the past few years, my coworker and her husband have saved for their first home. It’s something she talks about all the time. Normally, a first home is exciting in itself, but this couple are going about it in a way that most couples don’t.

They’re planning on paying cash for the home.

That’s right. Isn’t that amazing?

I’ve heard her views on this, and I find it admirable. How many people do you know who’d choose to wait on a big purchase rather than taking out a loan or pulling out the credit card?

She told me about all the benefits of being debt-free and paying cash for everything. This got me thinking and wondering if I could implement the same idea in my family.

I’ve slowly tried a few things here and there.

So far, I’ve tried two things:

    • Hiding all the credit cards: This has helped me with my impulse shopping, especially when I’m putting things in online shopping carts.

    • Keeping track of the extras I buy without thinking: I didn’t realize how much I spent on my white mochas until I added it up. I resolved to limit myself to one coffee per week or make the coffee at home instead.

Just by doing these two things has saved me more money than I expected. When you buy something to the point that it’s a habit, you don’t think of the money itself.

When I told my coworker about these changes, she was so proud of me and encouraged me to keep going with my experiment.

She’s been such a help that I’d like to give her a meaningful gift for their housewarming party.

I referred to lots of sites for ideas. One of them gave me practical ideas that suited my coworker’s practical personality. You can get more facts if you’d like. I found so many great ideas.

Any day now my coworker will move into her first home. She’s given me hope that I can also eliminate my debt so that I can pay cash for big purchases.

I’ve already started paying more attention to more than my spending. Often, certain things trigger the desire to buy, such as stress, hunger, or boredom.

For me, boredom contributed to many impulsive purchases. Once I figured this out, I tried to keep myself away from the computer or track my time better so I could keep myself doing more productive things.

Wish me luck.

Take Your Puzzle-solving Prowess to the Next Level

Artificial intelligence has come into gaming. Most of us have played so many games but have never had that chance of being put up against a character that learns from your moves. This is the concept that drove Hello Neighbor to the forefront. This game comes in as a storyline, keeping you engrossed all the time.

You start off the game as a newly-moved homeowner who has just moved to the suburbs from another city. Just across your fence is a neighbor, who never gets out of the house and who is spooky. This spookiness is what makes you suspect that the neighbor is hiding something in the basement, and you need to discover what it is.

Intruder vs Owner

In this game, you are the intruder (fun, right) and you are up to some mischief. You have to find a way into the basement. There are various ways you can get to the basement, but the bad thing is that the owner has put measures in place to make sure you don’t get the chance to find out the secret in the basement.

The Setting

This cartoon style is cheerful and set in a neighborhood that doesn’t in the least make you feel there is a secret in the area. You have to match your trickery, cunningness, wit and any other tactic you have to beat the adaptive AI that is waiting for your move.

The “Learning” AI

The AI learns from your moves, and comes up with various strategies to beat them. It checks out your choices and will come up with a strategy depending on what you are planning to do. So, just know that the AI is always a step ahead of you. This is what makes this game more interesting. The good news is that there are various tools and clues that you can use to distract the mustachioed owner of the house and beat the AI.

Horrifyingly Cheerful

If you like games that make you terrified while testing your wits to the end, then this is the game you need. It is ideal for the whole family and kid friendly as well. The genuine atmosphere and cartoonish characters make for a complete experience. The mystery is all about knowing what the neighbor is hiding away from you, without getting caught. The different levels give you the chance to explore your ability to solve various puzzles using the available clues.
